Horses are being slaughtered every day, believe it or not. Sadly, many people are unaware of this. It happens worldwide
and I feel that it is time to make people aware of this. This is my whole reason for developing this site.
How many horses are slaughtered each year?
As many as 90,000 horses are slaughtered each year in the United States. Thousands of others are often shipped to Canada.
What kind of horses end up being slaughtered?
Horses of all ages and all breeds are sent to slaughter each year. This includes even the youngest of horses. Many of
these horses are in great health, and were sold at very low prices. Many of these horses going to slaughter are ex-racehorses,
surplus riding school horses, and even donkeys, mules, and ponies.

Why?
This question is sometimes the hardest to answer, therefore, I have dedicated a whole page to answering this question,
The Reason. Before visiting this page, I will warn you. This page describes how the horses are killed and how they wind up
there. I do not recommend reading this page with small children who can read.
